Daniel Merth, Land and Resources Specialist, Ministry of Forests

Daniel Merth is a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) with a Diploma in Sustainable Resource Management from BCIT, which he earned in 2015.

Since graduating, Daniel has grown his knowledge in the forestry sector through various positions.

He began his career on Vancouver Island, working in timber development, before making Williams Lake his home in 2016. In 2017, he joined BC Timber Sales and worked primarily with the timber development and harvesting team. In 2021, Daniel took a job with the Cariboo Chilcotin Natural Resource District, serving as the Wildfire Rehabilitation Coordinator. Since Spring 2023, he has been working as a Land and Resource Specialist, where he manages the District’s Wildfire Risk Reduction Program.

He values the opportunity to collaborate with knowledgeable forest professionals while continually learning from the strong mentorship he’s received throughout his career. Daniel is dedicated to working with diverse stakeholder groups and First Nation communities to improve landscape resiliency.
