Dana Manhard
RPF, Timber Pricing Coordinator, Thompson Okanagan Region, MOF
I have been working in Timber Pricing in the southern interior for 15 years following a good stint as a silviculture forester and forest tech before that. I currently provide expert advice on the Appraisal Manual and timber pricing issues to district tenures, appraisals and engineering staff as well as senior managers. Over the past several years I have had the opportunity to follow through with the implementation of enhanced silviculture within the appraisal system.
ABSTRACT OF PRESENTATION
We use stumpage and the appraisal system to manage silviculture costs for licensees. How does this work and what is included in this process? Does this system provide for a sufficient cost reimbursement or the necessary process to enable the stand management we require? With the addition of enhanced silviculture as an option in the interior appraisals – how it this working and what are the pros and cons of this system.
