Kirk is a PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia working with Dr. Nicholas Coops. His research is exploring climate risk and adaptive silviculture using forest estate planning tools, climate-informed growth models (Physiological Principles in Predicting Growth; 3-PG), and remote sensing data. Prior to studying at UBC, Kirk worked on the Mixedwood Growth Model (MGM) development team and earned an MSc in Forest Biology and Management at the University of Alberta, focusing on juvenile growth, stand dynamics, and establishment silviculture in white spruce plantations.
