Neil Hughes

RPF, Forest Establishment Lead, Forest Science and Practices Branch, MOF

Neil has been a practicing RPF for 35 years between Scotland and BC; in BC he has worked extensively up and down the coast as a silviculture and planning forester for industry and in his role with government since 2015 as the forest establishment lead he has been able to visit and work on silviculture issues throughout the interior of the province.

In his current role at FSPPB he works with a dedicated team reviewing forest practices with a view to the impact of climate change and the increasing level of social interest in how our forests are managed. Wildfire recovery, reducing drought impacts, landscape level management and developing new strategies for managing broadleaves are topics that have occupied a lot of his time over the last few years.
