Thomas began his career in forests in 2014 as a BC Wildfire Service crew member, and did this until 2018 when he began the MSFM program at UBC. Afterwards, he started as a field forester for Monticola Management working on Private Managed Forest Lands in the Kootenays, where he still works today. Since 2021 he has been the Salmo Area Forester, planning and overseeing all operations including silviculture, road building, and harvesting for those private land parcels.
